Consistency rule
A consistency rule limits how much of an account's total profit may come from a single day or a single trade.
What it means
Firms use it so that an account passes a challenge, or earns rewards, through steady trading rather than one outsized win.
Rules differ between firms. Some apply the rule only in the challenge, some only on funded accounts, and some measure single trades instead of days. Some compare the largest day with net profit, others with the sum of winning days only, which can give different answers on the same account.
Worked example
With a 30% consistency rule, no single trading day may make up more than 30% of the total profit. If the largest winning day made $3,000, the account needs at least $10,000 in total profit before the rule is met.
